109Advanced Electrial Safety Intermediate In order to fully understand how to make and keep a facility compliant with the arc-flash and electrical shock hazard analysis requirements, the hazards themselves must be understood. Temperatures of approximately 2030F for one-tenth of a second generally cause third-degree burns and approximately 1.2 cal/cm2 of incident energy is the threshold of second degree burns. Electrocution can occur from as little as 1/10th of an amp passing through the heart.
